Week 1 post

I really synced with the idea of slow thinking that Jessica Vance and Becky Carlzon mentioned.

My immediate connection was - "The human brain's ability to consciously process information is limited to a few items, generally three to five "chunks" in working memory, though this capacity can be influenced by the complexity and nature of the tasks. While the brain can sense a vast amount of information (around 1 billion bits per second), only a fraction reaches conscious awareness, with most of it being filtered out by unconscious processes to maintain efficiency".

Putting things visually helps in connecting better with already present information. At a younger age, when children do this - they will be able to strengthen their synapses and retain better. A staff learning wall will reinforce learning and will present a hive mindset that is required for all the teachers of a particular class.

Currently I would say, largely, our learning walls in my school. are just abstract anchoring walls which presents student learning. I will setup a personal learning wall in my home not just for Ron's book but to consolidate all my learning periodically. I will have others perspectives mentioned over there to further guide and think through. I know that this book study is further more amplified with others sharing their thoughts and views. 🙂

When I connect with LPA, I feel that the learning walls will make learners ready, willing and able to lock onto learning. It will make the learners reflect and reciprocate more as they see different reflections/perceptions (right or wrong) shared.

Learning walls are prefect sources to understand the thinking spectrum within the class for a particular learning objective. They will also serve as a perfect springboard for perfect pondering questions.

A snap of the learning wall can be used for spaced repetition to remember the discussion happened. Even if we couldnt remember the brain connection that was established when we built the learning wall, we will be surprised at the newer and better connection that our brain throws at us. 😁
