The Super Coping Crew will work on emotional regulation and coping skills, focusing on anger management. The target age group will be first, second, and third graders, specifically 6-, 7-, and 8-year-old boys and girls, with a maximum of four participants. To allow each participant the opportunity to express their thoughts and feelings fully.

*Forming: The group members will complete a self-evaluation form about how they see and manage their anger. the Building relationships and trust will take place in the beginning by participating in an icebreaker activity. All

Participants will be part of the group guidelines and

making of the rules. They will have the opportunity to

introduce themselves to the other group members. The counselor will explain confidentiality and consent.

*Storming: Students will show commitment to the group through attendance and participation.

*Norming: The group members will stay engaged with the sessions by participating in the activities.

*Performing: The group members will continue to participate in the activities, while supporting and encouraging one another.

*Adjourning: The group members will evaluate the effectiveness of the group by completing the same self-evaluation tool used at the beginning to gauge if there was growth and change in behavior.

Texas Education Code TEC § 33.005

In this section, it states that school counselors shall incorporate guidance curriculum, responsive services,

individual planning, and provide system support to all stakeholders involved, especially the student population.

This allows school counselors the legal support to conduct group counseling for the betterment of the students and campus.

Texas Education Code TEC § 33.006

In this section, it states the responsibilities of a school counselor. In subsection e, it states that school counselors must follow the 80/20 rule, in that they are required by law to spend 80% of their time doing school counselor duties. Again, this clearly shows the legal support needed to conduct group counseling for the

betterment of the students and campus.
