VIKROLI MANGROVES MUMBAI   is one of the largest (2000ha) private mangrove forests in india, it stores six lakh tonnes of carbon, mostly from pollutants that humans release into the atmosphere,  scientist who documented out the carbon sequestration said that it was an ongoing study  to understand how the mangroves are helping to maintain ecosystem habitat  wherein there are  206 species of birds, 30 species of reptiles, 13 species of crabs, 7 species of prawns and 20 species of fish have been identified so far in the area. Mammals like jackals and mongoose also were sited many a times  we need to understand how important mangroves are tothe quality of life of the citizens of mumbai so i would say that always  to save wetlands for their benefits which we get to our enviorment .
i would thourogh thanks to the Godrej family, we still have excellent mangrove forests in Vikhroli.
