Around 5,000 years ago in Mesopotamia, people started documenting ideas in clay tablets using proto-cuneiform. They drew pictures of objects that represented their ideas. However, these symbols had to be recognized by the reader. This technology changed social interaction as its limitations promoted the evolution to cuneiform script. Still, proto-cuneiform enabled people to communicate and send messages through writing.

And yet, there were still limitations to communication at that time. The creation of Cuneiform facilitated communication. It helped with the creation of written rules, laws and record keeping of food and trading. Cuneiform also helped start the reform of their society.

In roughly 700BCE, the 24 character (7 vowels and 17 consonants) alphabetic system was invented by the Greeks. This technology was able to change social interactions as it permitted its user to read and learn a vast range of subjects. In our present society, Greek letters can be found in our alphabet and mathematics. Evidently, the Greek alphabet had a big influence on our society.
