He calls them, "
Half-devil and half-child."
2. He described the White Man's Burden as something he needed to do to help those he thought were below him. He thought is was the job of white men to help other races that were thought to be inferior. The other races were seen as burdensome to those who were white and they needed to be retaught and "bettered" into what "white men" were always like.
4. The Black Man's Burden expresses that the Europeans have done destructive things to African societies. It talks about how people in Africa have been hurt physically but more importantly mentally.

1. kipling portrays colonial rulers as inferior, weak, worthless, or "half devil and half child'. he acts as if they have absolutely no capability of surviving illness or anything, as they are too weak to meet up to the level and expectations of the superior.
2. he wrote that the white man's burden was a statement of mandatory duty to help out the weak and inferior. not because they were actually nice and kind and they genuinely wanted to lend a helping hand whenever they needed it, but more so because they were pitying them because they were the minority.

He then goes on to talk about how their rules are great and are there to help the worthless people.
2. Kipling thought the White Mans Burden was for the white men to help the minority races (Africans in specific) because they couldn't live without help. The white men have a much higher social statice he states, and need to "help" the poor people.
4. The message of the Black Mans Burden is the Africans don't need the help from the white men, for they are ony making their live miserable.

1.) Kipling portrays colonial subjects as weaker men who are unable to survive things such as sickness. They are described as entitiled and superior to other races, while also describing them as helpless "half devil, half children". Although he portrays the colonial subjects as superior beings, Kipling decribes how they need other societies and better races to reform them.

2.) He explains the 'White Man's Burden" as a need or duty to help those who are inferior, which could be poor, weak, or sick people. He explains it as if it's a herculean chore that is necessary to complete.

4.) The idea of the "Black Man's Burden" is to bring the struggle that Africans continue to face time after time into the light. It describes how eventhough Aficans are often attacked as well as weakened, they always survive.

5.) The author is more focused on how the Africans were able to sustain a strong community while often being attacked by white men.

1) Kipling portrays the subjects of colonial rule as wild, unkempt, devilish people in need of reform from a better race, and the rulers as strong and able.
2) Kipling described the White Man's Burden as an obligation to help those "below" himself: the hungry, the weak, the uncivilized, and remodel them to be more like the white man himself.
4) The message of the Black Man's Burden highlights not only the physical challenges, but the emotional repercussions of imperialism that Africans faced, Morel emphasizes the cruelty of European imperialists, saying "to kill the soul in a people-this is a crime which transcends physical murder".
5) The author is more concerned about the struggles and injustices the Africans faced, while still criticizing the actions of the imperialists.

1. Kipling portrays colonial rule as something that is very beneficial for the world. He seems to believe that the white race is extremely superior to the africans. This poem states, "the end for others sought." This seems to be referring to the Africans stating that they should die while the white race flourishes. He also pictures the white race as being the race who survives sickness.

2. I think that Kipling thought that the White Man's Burden was having to take care of/ live amongst the Africans. He probably thought this because the Africans lived very differently from the white men.

3.
4. The message in the Black Man's Burden seems to state how the Africans have survived while the white men take over the country.
