All of the people for Lincoln at the time went on a search and didn't stop until they found the killer, as well as his ally's. I can connect this to the event of the Boston bombing and how all of the police in the area as well as others kept looking until they found both men that caused the horrific event.

TEXT TO SELF: I can connect to the text, Chasing Lincoln's Killer when the people in the south didn't know Lincoln had been killed, and took Booth in since he was injured not knowing he was the killer of the president. I can connect this to myself in the way that sometimes I don't know what I am getting myself into until after the fact when it wasn't what you thought it would be.

Today, Lincoln's death is still a big event.

TEXT TO TEXT-
I've read a couple books talking about President Abraham Lincoln's life and his grave robbers. Some books and stories didn't really talk about the night he died. 'Chasing Lincoln's Killer' really talked about the details; how they found the killer, how the killers tried to escape, where Lincoln died, etc. Not only did they talk about his death, but also the Vice President Johnson and Secretary Of State Seward. It was good to read this book and really know what exactly happened.

Just like thousands of other people of color, they were treated harshly where they lived. Jacqueline's family struggled to get around in the South so they moved to the North just as many other families had. They escaped the judgement but joined in poverty, which happened to a large percentage of families in that time. The Woodsons faced the same struggles as many other families in that time.

Text to Text:
I'm currently reading a book called Escape From Berlin. Which is about a girl named Marriane who is Jewish, and is being discriminated by Nazis. Most of the time Marriane just tries to cover herself, and hide from the world, just like lots of people of color had to. I think this book and a lot of others proves it to be quite the opposite. YouTubers are sometimes seen as young, or unintelligent, but Phil Lester, one of the authors, has a masters degree in English. He fully explains his experiences in the world in words that are easier to digest, and are a little more entertaining which is often hard to find.

Text to self- Dan Howell, the other author, explains how he was in many theater programs and plays as a child. I connect to this, because I also am in theater, and enjoy that too. He explains how he wished he could go back and instead of doing law in college he did theater. I once instead of going to a comedy camp with my sister, I sat at home and completely regretted it.

Text to world: Famous athletes that are making plenty today are still doing things that get them in huge trouble or controversy. In the book Michael Vick is jailed for dogfighting during the height of his NFL career. Chris Sale cut up his jersey and although not as extreme, did earn him a penalty. Colin Kapernick also did the same thing. His NFL career was doing great, and then he took a knee during the national anthem, which caused an enormous amount of controversy throughout the country, just like Michael Vick did with his dogfighting.
Text to text: This event is just like a book I am reading now about a boy who starts a shooting to get back at all the people that looked down on him. Just like Michael Vick, the boy in the story has made some poor decisions that will land him in a ton of trouble with the law.

I can connect to this book because it is about trying to fit in and being yourself, which is really tough to do as a middle schooler sometimes. I feel as though you often think you have to be someone your not in order to fit in, which is not the case. I first thought that while entering middle school, but soon realized that wasn't true.
