I am now more confident that the books and resources from LLH are really enough for our homeschooling.

For math, I intend to just use mental math and manipulatives. For standards that requires writing ("Write numbers from 0 to 20"), I think writing on the air or on sand will suffice. I was also encouraged that the standard specifically mentioned that kinder students are not required to write equation (but it's encouraged).

For ELA, I intend to attend the upcoming immersion class for ELA even though it's not yet required for kinder. I might have other thoughts about the ELA standards after going through the immersion. I don't plan to design structured activities to meet all the standards, I think reading nature lore, going on nature walks and having simple nature studies will suffice for Kinder. 

However, having knowledge of the NGSS standards will at least help me introduce these topics in our nature walks. I was fortunate enough to attend two of his international zoom workshops two years ago. I think phenomena based teaching can be modified to align with the principles of CM. 

In one of the workshops, he showed us a phenomena and we were divided into groups to try to go though the five steps of inquiry. At the end of the session, he didn't explain the phenomena (even if all the participants were all teachers / school administrators). He said that giving explanation will kill the wonder and that our duty as educators is to equip and support our students to discover the explanation / knowledge.
