In 1995, Almudena won her first Spanish champion title in the honor category, and after this title she won 7 more and became the gymnast who has been Spanish champion in the honor category the most times.In June of that year, Almudena participated in the European Cup Final where she finished 11th and qualified for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. In addition, Almudena continued to win medals and awards, becoming the only gymnast to have represented her country in four Olympic finals. In 2008, at the age of 21, Almudena left her career as a gymnast.
