For my grandmother, Erika, born in 1956 and raised on a farm, going to school meant a 40-minute walk to a tiny schoolhouse every morning with a "beautiful scenery full of bright green grass, deer running around everywhere, and exhausting hills". The school was equipped with nothing more than chalkboards, pencils, and paper. These supplies were the backbone of her education. Despite the lack of modern technology, the basic essentials were more than enough for her basic knowledge.

Unlike nowadays that we have all sorts of information at a click of a button, for my grandma it was much more difficult than that, it was one to many steps away. In my grandmother's era, an assignment was more like an adventure. With no technology, she embarked on physical trips to study specific subjects. With only a pencil and paper, she'd study spots, jotting down notes about nature and/or history. These circumstances brought textbooks to life, it fostered a deeper connection to topics and left "lasting memories" of her learning journey. I can connect to this because when I have or have had assignments about historic places or certain spots in general, i learned more being face to face with them in their environment.

My brother, Jesus, born in 1995 embraced technology pretty early on although his computer usage was very limited at school, "I couldn't wait till the clock hit 1:30 cause it meant computer lab time" he played many educational games and to which he states, "The most I've ever learned as a kid was on those computers" and I can't say I'm surprised, students learn most when they're having fun. Now fast forwarding 23 years, my brothers life almost revolves around technology given the fact he's a computer programer!

Hanna, my sister born in 2012, is one of the youngest people growing into the digital life, I mean phones already existed when she was born! She always comes home with a computer in hand that the school provides for her and her classmates since most of their work is done digitally. I asked her "do you feel like you learn easier on a computer or on paper", she said "well on paper I can't look up how to do something if I needed help". I have to say I have to agree with her, you can find lots of information and support on a device at a click of a button.

Ever since my brother has been studying computer programing he has realized that you can find way more information online than you think..One thing I cannot stop thinking about is how technology has evolved so much that there are now job positions for cybersecurity to protect websites from digital attacks, isn't that crazy?!

Not that long ago she asked me "hey Diana can you help me with my math homework" I said "of course" I went to get a whiteboard and a marker and when I saw her she already had her apple pen and her digital whiteboard. We are 8 years apart in age difference and it is surprising to see how much more reliant she is on technology than I am given the fact I was also born into the beginnings of technology and know my way around it.
