Martin Luther King Jr. was a major idol and was strongly involved with the fight against racism in the 1960s America. Martin Luther King was born in 1929 in Atlanta and grew up in a very religious family. Martin saw his fair share of racism against blacks as he grew up in the 30s in Atlanta. Atlanta was the main American city involved in the Atlantic Slave Trade which began as early as the 15th century and ended in 1808 as slavery was abolished. Even though it was illegal to use slaves for manual labour after 1808, many farmers and land owners continued to use African slaves. King's relatives an older family members grew up as slaves. This shaped his vision of the world and at a young age he noticed the extreme injustice that had been brought on the African people of USA. Even after slavery had virtually disappeared, people, especially in the south, didn't tolerate and accept the black community as a part of society, this lead to vast segregation from the whites. Hearing stories of slavery from his relatives and witnessing firsthand the amount of racism to the black community lead to King's decision to stand up and fight for equal rights for the black community. Martin had a famous and recognisable speech that began with the words, "I have a dream...". People found this speech very inspiring. In his later years, King married Coretta King and had Four children, three of them becoming activists and ministers.

The transatlantic slave trade was responsible for spreading anti-black ideology and extremely racist thoughts to the white citizens in the states. These thoughts were purposely spread in order for people to show no sympathy for the slaves and believe that they are born to be slaves. This mentality carried through generations and was the sole reason for the lack of acceptance for blacks after the slave trade. The lack of tolerance lead to total separation of races.

A radical is someone who has extreme and controversial views and stand up for something they believe in, even though the majority might disagree. A radical is usually someone who leads a specific worldview in attempt for change. Extremists can tent to protest very aggressively and sometimes violently, this is how you get uprisings and civil wars. However, some find this method unpopular as it combats hate with hate. Marin Luther king Jr. is one of many that proved it is possibly to be passive and still get your point across.
