         <description><![CDATA[<div>- Major General Leonard Gerow was born in Virginia. He served in both WWI and WWII. In WII he showed that he was ready to fight and move up. Because of his acheviements in WWI he was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal and French Legion of Honor. After WWI he entered into advanced infantry school and graduated first in his class. After the U.s entered WWII he was prompted to Major General and recieved command of the 29th Infantry Division in 1942. In 1943 he was dismissed and put in command of the V Corps which helped to plan the Battle of Normandy.<br><br></div>]]></description>

Charles grew up in th Army, he father served. Gerhardt was considered a hard taskmaker, disciplinarian, and a martinet. Despite this he was a driven trainer of soldiers.          <description><![CDATA[<div>- The Insignia of the 29th Infantry Division is that of the Monad. The korean symbol of eternal life. It is half blue and half gray in teardrop design. These colors represent the tradition of the divison. Composed of men both from the north and south whose forefathers fought in the Union (blue) and confederate (gray)during the Civil War. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>- After becoming inactive in 1968 the 29th Infantry division became active again in 1985 and is still active today!&nbsp;<br>- Post WWII the divison has gone to Bosnia for a Peacekeeping mission in 2001,&nbsp;<br>- In 2006 the division underwent major reorganization, a special troops batallion was added to the division&nbsp;<br>- December 2006 the division took command of Eastern region of Kosovo's peacekeeping force to provide security in the region&nbsp;<br>- Now known as 29th ID&nbsp;<br>- 29th ID serves as the Domestic All-Hazards Response Team (DART)<br>- Brig. Gen. Blake C. Ortner is now in command as of July 2015 </div>]]></description>
