         <description><![CDATA[<div>See: &nbsp;<br>After the blue solution was poured onto the aluminium cupcake tray, effervescence occurred. The solution turned from blue to greenish-brown as it reacted with the aluminium tray, creating a hole in the tray and the solution fell through into the cup below.<br>Reddish-Brown PPT is left on the rim of the tray<br>Think:<br>A chemical reaction has occurred between the blue solution and the aluminium tray. The solution corrodes the tray.<br>Wonder:<br>- What caused the colour change?<br>- What qualities of the blue solution facilitates the reaction?<br>- If it is a chemical reaction, what is the resultant compound?</div>]]></description>

The blue solution consists of a metal less reactive than Aluminium.<br>&gt;&gt; A displacement reaction occurs as the Al atoms lose electrons and form a compound with the anion.<br>2. Solutions of Copper (II) and Chromium (II) are blue.<br><br>The blue solution is possibly Copper (II) Nitrate.<br>The bubbling of the solution is due to the nature of single displacement reactions being exothermic (releases heat).<br>Reddish-Brown PPT is copper metal that has been displaced in the reaction.</div>]]></description>
