As well as that many such as Poland, Hungary and Czech Republic were undergoing major systematic change in regards to a more open economy. The treaty of Amsterdam aimed to establish more transparent decision making and preparation of new members to the EEC.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Numerous new countries joining the EC at once was not simple, numerous areas had to be prepared as well as changing each countries influence in decision making within the EC, giving countries like Germany, France and the United Kingdom more representation. This caused major debate in Ireland which originally rejected the treaty due to its threat on Irish neutrality.</div>]]></description>
