         <title>Herbert Hoover</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Herbert Hoover was born on August 10th, 1874 and passed away on October 20th, 1964. </p><p><br/></p><p>Hoover was the 31st president of the USA. His presidential term was from March 4th, 1929 through March 4th, 1933. He is known as The Great Humanitarian as he had fed Europe when WWI had left the continent in a food crisis. </p><p><br/></p><p>His significance was that he promoted a group in America to help with reducing waste and developed the radio &amp; automobile industry. In 1917, Hoover also began to conserve resources of food to feed allies of America.</p>]]></description>

         <title>Franklin Delano Roosevelt </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Franklin Delano Roosevelt was born on January 30th, 1882 and died on April 12, 1945.</p><p><br/></p><p>Roosevelt was a great president who helped heal the country from the Great Depression, Although his presidential term had a rocky start he persevered into bringing the people to live the best life they could with everything he provided for his people. He brought hope to his country. </p><p><br/></p><p>He had hundreds of contributions to the country. Roosevelt created many programs to get people into reform America. In the first 100 days of his term, 13 million civilians were unemployed and banks were all closed. Roosevelt proposed a sweeping program to help those millions of people who were unemployed and the relief of those who were afraid of losing their farms and land. Roosevelt had America in a massive recovery from the Great Depression and the country was healing.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The Great Depression began in 1929 and ended in 1941. </p><p><br/></p><p>This Depression was a severe economic deflation which started with the stock market crash and then led to millions of people losing jobs, starving, and creating huge droughts in the Midwest that people experienced dust storms. </p><p><br/></p><p>The Great Depression had horrible impacts on the country. Thousands of factories had been shut down, people lost their homes, and no way to save their farms. There was no way of people saving themselves from the crisis of the country.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Black Tuesday started on October 29th, 1929.</p><p><br></p><p>Black Tuesday is also known as the stock market crash. This was the beginning of the Great Depression. Stock prices continued to rise and investors borrowed more money to buy more stocks. Values began to diminish and people panicked about selling their stock to rush to get out of the market and gain any lost money. </p><p><br></p><p>Black Tuesday had massive impacts all over the country. There was a huge decline in production, millions of unemployed, and no recovery from the effects.</p><p><br></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The Dust Bowl started in 1930 and ended in 1940.</p><p><br/></p><p>The Dust Bowl was when southwestern region experienced a severe drought and the strong winds of the region created clouds of dust. This region began to experience storms of dust everyday. The homes of people were covered in dust and sometimes could not even see in front of them from all the dust. </p><p><br/></p><p>There were many impacts from the Dust bowl such as unlimited dust storms, lost land, abandoned farms, distress of the people, and migration due to the severity of the storms.</p>]]></description>

Roosevelt took action right away to relieve his country out of the depression and economic failures they were experiencing. </p><p><br/></p><p>The greatest impact was that they addressed the unemployment rate. The WPA offered jobs to many men to carry out many public projects that had to do with the country and rebuilding the US. </p>]]></description>

People around the country owned radios because Roosevelt wanted to make sure that the people felt secured that there was action being taken upon the major issue going on all over the country.</p><p><br/></p><p>The impacts that came from the Fireside Chats were that the people began to put a lot of trust into Roosevelt. This boosted the confidence of the public and motivated people.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The CCC began on March 31st, 1933</p><p><br/></p><p>FDR created this program to allow young men to enlist in jobs that had to do with improving the land of America. This was the first job for many of the young men enrolling. Along with the job came educational schooling opportunities and many graduating with a high school diploma. </p><p><br/></p><p>There were great impacts upon the CCC. Millions of trees had been planted and protected. Many acres of land had been saved and brought great benefits to the men that worked. These men had obtained great education, health, and employment.</p>]]></description>

At the time there were very few people working and the WPA gave jobs to millions of skilled and unskilled men.</p><p><br/></p><p>The impacts of the WPA were that 4 thousand schools had been built, 130 new hospitals, 29,000 new bridges, and millions of trees had been planted. The WPA created many benefits for the land and improved the environment of America with all its works and public projects.</p>]]></description>
