Could the students' elementary day start later (allowing time for hs/ms routes to be completed) and end at the current time as our school day now since our school day seems to be longer than other comparable schools. Teachers could still start at the current time contractually, allowing for ARD/WIT/LPAC meetings before student arrival as well as PLC meetings before student arrival. Days without meetings could be extra planning time with grade level teammates before the students arrive. Just trying to think of a way to keep individual 45 min planning periods during specials for class prep time–so valuable!

It is a long day waiting for recess and specials, and they are a little antsy. It is difficult to do anything after specials, and after recess. That middle time between recess and specials is not very effective learning time.
