She believes that the American dream can be achieved by anyone if you work hard enough. Marcis personal American dream includes, being able to suport her family, live comfortably/ have a solid foundation, and as she has aged she says she now just wants to be the best person she can be. She says as she has gotten older she has achieved her dreams so she has changed and improved them. For example she says when she achieves one dream she makes another so she never gives up and is over all the best she can be. The first way it supports the thesis is it says "I'm starting with the man in the mirror" I believe this supports the thesis because these lyrics are talking about how he is going to start focusing on him self achieve his dreams. The second piece of evidence includes "i've got to make that change today" this shows that he is determined and isn't going to give up on his dreams.  The third and final support is when Jackson states "If you wanna make the world a better place, Take a look at yourself and then make a change" this really shows that he wants to improve himself and achieve his American dream!

In chapter 24, she explains, "I looked at the ocean, and I realized there was no need to be afraid. I had gotten this far, despite everything." I feel she is saying in this that despite everything she had been through she was able to accomplish everything she put her mind too, because she was determined and did not hold back she able to succeed and obtain the accomplishment of her American dream! She says as long as people persevere and work hard that they can accomplish it.  I agree with her statement as anyone can accomplish the American dream as it goes with my thesis of the American dream is alive and thriving. In the clip she mentions how Covid-19 may have been a bump in the road for some but to keep going and staying determined because it will be worth it in the long run.
