What happened is Williams Grandma Grace died and nobody knows how she died. Basically they have to retrace everything. Then they go back in time in a way and find out how Grace died. They went  back in time using data by tracking her past moves.

I was surprised the book started so dark and that it started over the death.

Alex saw two men coming towards the car and didn't have time to run so he hid inside the car. The men passed but then a claw picked up the car and put it into a crusher. Alex  escaped from the the car before the crusher could crush it with him in it.

The full school is full of "prodigies" peak is the writer, but he wanted to be the rock climber but they don't do athletics. Peak went to a skyscraper to climb it because he loves climbing, then when he was four steps from the top the police came and arrested him.
