         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Freedom Ride took place in 1961. Though the Freedom Ride is well known in history, it was not the first time that segregation in transport had been challenged in the Deep South. (The goal was to support the new law that had been passed that would allow people of different colors to sit in the same waiting rooms, ride the same busses, etc...) but were met with violence as they rode further into the Deep South. </div>]]></description>
