Both families hated and disliked each other at one point they were trying to kill each other. In the text it states "The two enemies stood glaring at one another for a long silent moment. Each had a rifle in his hand, each had hate in his heart and murder uppermost in his mind. The chance had come to give full play to the passions of a lifetime." This shows how they are both with weapons and they were going to do something to each other.

The text states, "The two enemies stood glaring at one another for a long silent moment. Each had a rifle in his hand, each had hate in his heart and murder uppermost in his mind" This means they were shocked that they got a chance to kill each other. They both were so eager for it that when the chance came both froze. This proves they both had same thought of killing each other and both froze because they were shocked. Therefore there is evidence that there is Man vs Man conflict in this story.

The story "the Interlopers" by Saki, contains Man vs Man because the conflict is Ulrich against Georg. In the text it states, "The two enemies stood glaring at one another for a long silent moment. Each had a rifle in his hand, each had hate in his heart and murder uppermost in his mind. The chance had come to give full play to the passions of a lifetime." Ulrich is the legal owner of the land that once, three generations ago, was under the control of Georg's family. Georg for the recentment of not having the lands that he once should be theirs he responds to the generational dispute with poaching and hatred. Ulrich responds to Georg's way of acting with the same hatred and protects himself against Georg's poaching. This conflict leads to man vs man, where two people are in a conflict over unequal ideas, causing them to become enemies.

(I'm not from this class but my teacher Mr. Mitten sent me the wrong link likely because he mixed up my name with the other Joshua in this class.) In the story "The Interlopers" by Saki with a Man vs. Man conflict, the two enemies feud would snowball to something much more consequential. In the text "The Interlopers" by Saki it states, "Ulrich von Gradwitz found himself stretched on the ground, one arm numb beneath him and the other held almost as helplessly in a tight tangle of forked branches, while both legs were pinned beneath the fallen mass." This section of the text shows how the conflict snowballed into something more than it originally was due to the stubborn nature of the two men who refused to make up with one another peacefully. This proves the conflict of Man vs. Man and that conflicts may become something much larger than it originally was due to how the feud the two men shared led to them having a large tree fall on them and injuring the both greatly, with a group of wolves finding them soon after they finally made up with one another leaving them an unknown fate. Thus, there is evidence of a Man vs. Man conflict as shown when the conflict between the two men led to them being injured and pinned under a tree, with a pack of wolves deciding their fate all because of their stubborn conflict.

(I'm not from this class but my teacher Mr. Mitten sent me the wrong link)

While working together with the different perspectives may cause disagreements and conflicts later on. In the story, “The Interlopers,” by Saki, two families trying to keep the forest safe created a conflict of man vs man due to disagreements. In the story "The Interlopers" by Saki it states, “The two enemies stood glaring at one another for a long silent moment. Each had a rifle in his hand, each had hate in his heart and murder uppermost in his mind.” Ulrich and Georg has a problem with each other. They both dislike each other with a great passion to the point where they want to kill the other. The feud that started with their family created a conflict between Ulrich and Georg because they really dislike each other since they were young and they were taught that. Every since they were young, they were taught to dislike the other which created a feud between them. This evidence proves that disagreements and family feud creates the conflict of man vs man. Ulrich has a problem with Georg and the same with the other way around. When they are met in the fields with a gun, they get the eager of shooting the other. They held in their hate for a long time and they were given a chance to do what they wished for a long time. Even though they know it’s not right, their feelings and emotions took over their body to shoot the other. Therefore, there is evidence that disagreements and the family feud can cause the conflict of man vs man as is evident in “The Interlopers” because Ulrich and Georg dislike each other very much with a passion.

The story "The Interlopers" by Saki contains a conflict. The conflict is man vs man. As it showcases two men who hated each other to the point of wishing death to one another over the reason of ownership of land. As it says "The two enemies stood glaring at one another for a long silent moment. Each had a rifle in his hand, each had hate in his heart and murder uppermost in his mind.". However the story does not entirely carry a conflict of man vs man. As it shows major hesitation. " But a man who has been brought up under the code of a restraining civilization cannot easily nerve himself to shoot down his neighbor in cold blood and without word spoken,". If it was true man vs man they would try to kill one another, showing no remorse, no words spoken, and no hesitation. Instead the story turns into man vs nature. As a tree falls upon both men. " A fierce shriek of the storm had been answered by a splitting crash over their heads, and ere they could leap aside a mass of falling beech tree had thundered down on them [...] while both legs were pinned beneath the fallen mass. His heavy shooting-boots had saved his feet from being crushed to pieces, but if his fractures were not as serious as they might have been, at least it was evident that he could not move from his present position". The story showcased a conflict of "man vs man" however midway it showcased the true conflict, man vs nature as both men are seriously damaged by the tree that had fallen on them due to the storm.

In "The Interlopers" shows the conflict of man vs. man. According to the short story, it says "The feud might, perhaps, have died down or been compromised if the personal ill-will of the two men had not stood in the way; as boys they had thirsted for one another’s blood, as men each prayed that misfortune might fall on the other, and this wind-scourged winter night Ulrich had banded together his foresters to watch the dark forest, not in quest of four-footed quarry, but to keep a look-out for the prowling thieves whom he suspected of being afoot from across the land boundary."

While being enemies of each other may cause disagreement and argument because of the past, more serious conflicts can occur from it after. In the short story "The Interlopers," by Saki, the two enemies Ulrich and Georg who had been feuding about the ownership of the forest lands for so long had both encountered a much larger consequence after trying to hurt each other that created the conflict of Man vs Nature. On page 2 of the story "The Interlopers" by Saki, it states that "And before the moment of hesitation had given way to action a deed of Nature’s own violence overwhelmed them both. A fierce shriek of the storm had been answered by a splitting crash over their heads, and ere they could leap aside a mass of falling beech tree had thundered down on them. Ulrich von Gradwitz found himself stretched on the ground, one arm numb beneath him and the other held almost as helplessly in a tight tangle of forked branches, while both legs were pinned beneath the fallen mass. At his side, so near that under ordinary circumstances he could almost have touched him, lay Georg Znaeym, alive and struggling, but obviously as helplessly pinioned down as himself. All round them lay a thick-strewn wreckage of splintered branches and broken twigs." This showcases the conflict of Man vs Nature as the two men had been hit by a storm which mother nature had caused, and they both got hurt when a tree fell on them. This was a conflict as they were both hurt from nature that caused a heavy tree falling on them and needed help from others.

Conflict tends to occur when there is a argument or disagreement between two or more people, but can escalate and turn into a whole new conflict. In the story “The Interlopers,” by Saki the two individuals who were at conflict ended up facing a different type of conflict. This conflict is man vs nature. In the story “The Interlopers,” by Saki it states “And before the moment of hesitation had given way to action a deed of Nature’s own violence overwhelmed them both. A fierce shriek of the storm had been answered by a splitting crash over their heads, and ere they could leap aside a mass of falling beech tree had thundered down on them.

Conflicts always have enemies that are at a disagreement due to different opinions and perspectives, and this can cause serious consequences and conflicts as well. In Saki's story, "The Interlopers", there is a universal conflict between two enemies named Ulrich and Georg who feuded for the ownership of the forest for a large period of time that they have been introduced to a much larger conflict of Man vs Nature. In page 2 of "The Interlopers" by Saki, it states, "And before the moment of hesitation had given way to action a deed of Nature’s own violence overwhelmed them both. His heavy shooting-boots had saved his feet from being crushed to pieces, but if his fractures were not as serious as they might have been, at least it was evident that he could not move from his present position till some one came to release him. The descending twig had slashed the skin of his face, and he had to wink away some drops of blood from his eyelashes before he could take in a general view of the disaster. At his side, so near that under ordinary circumstances he could almost have touched him, lay Georg Znaeym, alive and struggling, but obviously as helplessly pinioned down as himself. All round them lay a thick-strewn wreckage of splintered branches and broken twigs". This quote conveys a conflict of man vs nature because both Ulrich and Georg were hit by a storm that "mother nature" caused and got injured when a tree fell upon them. This is considered a conflict since it was nature that caused a heavy tree to fall on them and need them to plea for help.

(I'm not in this class but this was the link that was given to me in slides)

Conflict can start through a disagreement from the past and can escalate into a new conflict in the present. In the story "The Interlopers" by Saki two family had a conflict revolving the safety of the forest, which led to a lawsuit. As a result of the lawsuit a fuel between both families grew, later resulting in Ulrich and Georg, both sons of each family to despises themselves. This is a man vs. man conflict because in the story "The Interlopers" by Saki it states, “The two enemies stood glaring at one another for a long silent moment. Each had a rifle in his hand, each had hate in his heart and murder uppermost in his mind.” This line expresses how both parties disliked each other and the hatred was intense enough to provoke the thought of murder. This proves that both men were taken over by their hatred for a other that it provoked them to do something as horrible as murder. Therefore, The story "The Interlopers" by Saki has a man vs. man conflict between Ulrich and Georg.

The conflict was started way back in Ulrich' grandfathers time but has carried on to Ulrich' time. The conflict has gotten worse ever since Ulrich became the head of the family. In the text, it states, "The two enemies stood glaring at one another for a long silent moment. Each had a rifle in his hand, each had hate in his heart and murder uppermost in his mind.". They thought murder was a solution. It was something that crossed their minds. It was hate, not just disliking someone.
This proves that there was a conflict with the two men since they hated each other and stood in front of one another glaring at each other. It wasn't a simple look, a glance, They were glaring which shows contempt. Standing in front of another the way they were is like a standoff, waiting to see who will act first. Therefore, there is evidence of conflict. There is evidence of man vs man in “The Interlopers” since the men hated each other. It is evident that when there is a disagreement between two people, it will lead to conflict if it is not resolved.- Xavier

Trying to solve conflict and hatred with violence and revenge may lead to tragedy and crisis. In the short story "The Interlopers," by Saki, the conflict of man vs man is evident in both characters of Georg Znaeym and Ulrich von Gradwitz, both men believe that they have the right to a piece of land and are feuding over whose land it is. The men have gone to extreme lengths to prove that the land is theirs and have turned their families of generations feuds into a personal feud. For example the text states "each had a rifle in his hand, each had hate in his heart and murder uppermost in his mind. The chance had come to give full play to the passions of a lifetime...a mass of falling beech tree had thundered down on them...Ulrich von Gradwitz found himself stretched on the ground, one arm numb beneath him and the other held almost as helplessly in a tight tangle of forked branches, while both legs were pinned beneath the fallen mass...
lay Georg Znaeym, alive and struggling, but obviously as helplessly pinioned down as himself. All round them lay a thick-strewn wreckage of splintered branches and broken twigs."

My name is not here but I'm from the class.
A conflict can be a feud that happens with between two people. In the text "The Interlopers" by Saki it shows two characters fight and detest each other over land which creates the conflict of man vs man. The text states. "The two enemies stood glaring at one another for a long silent moment. Each had a rifle in his hand, each had hate in his heart and murder uppermost in his mind. The chance had come to give full play to the passions of a lifetime." This demonstrates the idea that there is tension and feud over these characters. Both longed for the moment of ending the others lives over a forest, it was engraved into their minds as a children to seek death as a result of defeating the other. With this information we can identify that the conflict of a feud can support the idea of man vs man in the passage.

In the text” the interlopers” the conflict is man vs man. This means that both men ulrich and Georg both had hatred that they both stared down each other with guns, this connects to my claim of man vs man because these two men family’s were fighting for generations and these two now still have that hatred towards each other because they both want ownership of the forest land. Therefore the conflict is man vs man.

The story "The interlopers"by saki Man vs. man is the conflict. It depicts two men who despised each other to the point of wishing death on each other for the sake of land ownership. As the name implies, "For a long time, the two adversaries stood silently staring at each other. Each had a rifle in his hand, hate in their hearts, and death on their minds ".. However,The plot does not totally revolve around a man-versus-man fight. As it demonstrates significant hesitancy. "However, a man who has been raised under the code of a restraint society cannot readily summon the courage to kill his neighbor in cold blood and without uttering a word," says the author. They would try to kill each other with no regret, no words uttered, and no hesitation if it was truly man vs. man. rather, instead. The tale evolves into a battle between man and nature. "As if a tree had fallen on both of them." A splitting boom over their heads had replied a violent screaming of the storm, and before they could run aside, a mass of falling beech tree had thundered down on them [...], pinning both legs beneath the fallen pile. His hefty shooting boots had kept his feet from being crushed to bits, but if his fractures were to become worse, he'd be in serious trouble.
