It has the sense of nostalgia and vintage vibes that is filled with many culinary stops, whether restaurants or street foods, and various photo spots. Its a great place to stroll at night, offering beautiful yet simple scenery of an old city.

Simpang lima

It's a large park in the middle of Semarang filled that becomes the center of attraction of the city. In terms of name, “Simpang” means intersection while “Lima” means five. As the name suggests, the square is located on such unique intersection. Not to mention it comes with many attractions including entertainment and culinary.

Pasar Semawis

This area of night market is also known as the Chinatown of Semarang. It was established in 2004 to memorialise the 600 years of Cheng Ho’s first expedition in Semarang. Located in Gang Warung, Semarang, this night market sells a variety of mouth watering Indonesian and Chinese influenced foods and drinks. It is a food street heaven since it's lined with street hawkers of satays, fried rice, soup, noodles, desserts and you could possibly find Semarang specialities such as Pisang Plenet and Lumpia.

Lawang sewu

Lawang Sewu is quite often referred to as one of the most haunted places in Indonesia. Lawang Sewu refers to “a thousand doors”, although it doesn’t really have a thousand doors. This landmark has an unique European-styles structures that is well-maintained even though it has a spooky past including the Dutch-colonial history.
Lawang Sewu is a combination of multiple narratives, including myths and tales about the torment that occured in the 1940s by the Japanese Troops in Indonesia.

Activity to do:

Visit Lawang Sewu in the afternoon to experience the vibes of the old building and have some photos there.

Taste various culinary at Semarang, especially the local foods mentioned, from the restaurants, street foods, to the market. The popularity of lumpia in Semarang even makes people give the nickname Lumpia City to Semarang City.
The Semarang’s lumpia recipe is slightly different from the original Chinese dish, because it uses bamboo shoots as a filling. Sometimes, the lumpia is also filled with chicken or shrimp.

Wingko Babat
One of the snacks that are also famous in Semarang is called Wingko Babat Semarang. Wingko Babat is a traditional cake made from grated young coconut, glutinous rice flour, and sugar in a round shape. Many people find this snack unique as it has both a savory and sweet taste. The savory taste comes from the coconut and the sweetness comes from the toasted palm sugar.

Tahu Gimbal
The name ‘Gimbal’ means dreadlocks, which comes from the addition of flour dough and shrimp which appear to be piled up and are included in the dish.
This typical Semarang food also uses raw cabbage, bean sprouts, rice cake, eggs, and others as a complement besides fried tofu and the Gimbal. We don’t use travel guide because we want to save our money. Here is our plan. First, we must go to the most famous monument, which is Namsan Tower that is known as national landmark and for its cityscape views. In there, we can find handsome oppa and do interesting activity like hang a love padlocks from the fence around the plaza as a symbolic for our friendship 🔐💓. Second, we also want to have experience wearing hanbook and take photos in front of Gyeongbokgung Palace. Gyeongbokgung Palace, was the main royal palace of the Joseon dynasty. The largest of the Five Grand Palaces built by the Joseon dynasty.

Beside that, we want to fulfil our stomatch as well with going to Namdaemun Market to try their local streetfood. Their famous streetfood like odeng, chicken skewer as a appetizer, then gimbap, tteokbokki, sundae, jokbal as a main course and bingsoo, hotteok, bungeopang as a dessert. That’s all our plan, wait for the money and got our bachelor pharmacy degree 🤪💊💉👩‍🎓
