The book Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand is probably one of the most interesting books i've read in awhile. This book is about redemption, and suffering, friendship, and i can just go on and on. This book takes place in World War 2 mostly in Japan. Unbroken is based off the story of Bruce Willis. In this book the main character, is a World War II-era bomber who survives bullets, bombs, sharks, and prison camps to make it home alive. But one day his plane gets shot down and is left stranded on a raft they eventually comes across japanese territory. Louie must learn how to survive.

This book connects with history because it takes place during World War 2, specifically/mostly in Japan. The main character Louie controlled an airplane from the sky and his place on the battlefield was bombing and shooting from the sky. But in case you didn't know World War 2 was very violent global war. There were tons of deaths and tons of land was being destroyed. But mainly the war was about Nazi Germany. My book teaches a lot of international culture, and how it was back then during the war. People were cruel and were willing to take anyone as hostages/prisoners to lure the other countries in.

My book takes place in Japan, during World War 2. Louie, and his friend Phil are captured by the Japanese and are taken to a Japanese prison camp. Most of the book takes place in the prison camps and how Louie, and Phil manage to survive them. As you might know World War 2 was a tough time so it was very hard for Louie and his friend to survive under the critical conditions of Japan. Some of the things they had to do were cary metal beams, follow the master's instructions. They also slept in a tight space with tons of people, and the food was horrible.

The main character is a man named Louie Zamperini. Louie is an Olympian Runner, specifically long distance. Louie competed in the 1936 Berlin Olympics and was set to compete again in the 1940 games in Tokyo, which were canceled when World War II broke out. Louie was a stubborn person when we first entered the camp, but eventually just went with the flow. One time Louie even had to get punched by everyone in the camp because he didn't listen. Louie's best friend is Phil, which also is in the camps with him.

One theme in my book was Unbroken is Friendship. Friendship is always important, especially in difficult situations, it's always good to know that someone has your back. In this book, Louie has Phil with him in the camps. They both help each other survive and push through the difficult tasks together. It's important to have that connection with someone in the camp because The people who survive at war are the ones who work together. The main message the author wants readers to take from this is it's always good to have a strong friendship, because they will be the ones who push, and help you through tough times.

This visual is very interesting because Louie, Phil, and Mac (Francis) are left stranded on a raft after the plane goes down. They are the only people that survived, and I think this scene is very important because it teaches you how to survive and work together. It also teaches you that sometimes you need to take sacrifices for the people around you. This is one of my favorite parts in the book becuase it's so interesting to see how they stay alive in the toughest situations, like when sharks are surrounding them.
