There will overall be negative impacts of melting sea ice. The rising sea levels will displace many people living in coastal areas and cause millions of dollars worth of damage. It will also destroy the natural habitats of many arctic species, causing more extinction. This also presents a positive feedback loop as the melting of ice causes less reflection of light from the sun which promotes the planet to become even warmer and causing the ice to melt at a faster rate.

In terms of the positives, economically it benefits as it allows increased trade around the world as there are fewer obstructing glaciers.
