One can argue that social science graduates can make the same salaries and have similar career opportunities, within the same fields as STEM graduates with their social science degrees. Social science graduates have a wide variety of careers that they can move on to work within. WSP, an engineering consultancy, employs social science graduates because they believe that they provide valuable insights about how projects would play out in the real world (WSP,2020). This shows that whatever field an individual aspires to work within, there’s a high likelihood that they will be able to secure a position in it with their social science degree.

Social science is one of the compulsory courses to enter university. One reason is that social science inquiry helps answer questions about evolving human systems in our increasingly complex world, and how to manage our planet more sustainably. This is crucial to our shared future. On the other hand social sciences offer good employment opportunities and higher pay in the UK, with a wide range of well paid and socially responsible careers open to social science students. Some roles use the skills and methods learned in all social science disciplines. Other roles are more specific to individual subjects. The social sciences are therefore the best choice for study at university.
