Networking events characters

Four main types of characters at networking events:
The 'Cucumber' - Seems to always be distracted; usually looking elsewhere (or sometimes even on their phone); also known as "too cool to talk to you".
The 'Coconut' - Interrupts everything you try to say; usually tries to change the subject or direct the conversation to something they prefer to talk about.
The 'Collegiate' - Always taking pictures; this is dangerous because it can damage your reputation with your employer or even potential business partners/clients if they see it posted on social media.

The 'Collagen' - Talks too much; does not let you get a word in or share your ideas.

In all of these cases there are ways to excuse yourself from the conversation, as seen in the 'Video link' here on Padlet.

Grammar Review + Sentence activity (out of class)

Preposition + Gerund.

Verbs following a Preposition require the gerund form (-ing).

For example:

She was able to meet deadlines by working longer hours.

In spite of working very hard, John's overall performance hasn't improved.

You must review the guidelines thoroughly before applying for a tender.
