Joseph banks had no encounter with any native people because they were in the ocean studying, but they did have a Sub-Antarctic summer is a fickle thing, and can prove fatal for the inexperienced explorer. That killed off a couple of their men.When they were exploring it appeared difficult because of the tundra proved to be a bog populated by extremely dense, waist-high trees.But they were able to find alpine plants, and  collected some new specimens. And with the specimens he found he studied them and some plants we know of today in his books about Florilegium.
