When Abraham Lincoln announced that he was going to send more supplies the the fort, the confederate general P.G.T Beauregard bombarded the fort. After 34 hours of fire the Fort surrendered and the Confederate won. Surprisingly, there were no causalities.

The battle started when roughly 35,000 union soldiers marched from Washington D.C. to attack a Confederate force of 20,000 along a river known as Bull Run. This resulted in a Confederate victory. The Union had a loss of 3000 people and the Confederate loss 387 lives.

The Union lost about 1,200 lives and the confederates suffered about 1,100 lives. Once again the Confederates won this battle.

The Battle of the Wilderness ended inconclusively, although the Union did lose more lives.
