On their Discovery (2001) album, Face To Face had samples from an approximate 19 different songs (it's hard to be certain since Daft Punk rarely reveal where they get their samples from). These samples are from artists such as Electric Light Orchestra, Kenny Loggins, Alan Parsons and more. There are many reasons why Kevin is such a huge influence for me, for example I seem to relate to his lyrics more then any other artists lyrics that I've heard before, such as "The only one who's really judging you is yourself, nobody else". He has been a part of AC/DC since 1973, and they still tour today. Most of my childhood memories came from watching AC/DC's music videos and live performances, wishing I could be exactly like Angus. At the age of 8 I begged my Mum to buy me a guitar so I could learn their songs, so when she did eventually buy me a guitar and sent me to lessons I told my teacher that I only wanted to learn AC/DC songs. What inspires me the most about Angus is his passion for the music he makes and how he continues to tour at age 68. He has had an enormous impact on the music industry, influencing artists such as The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Elvis Presley and many more. One of Chucks famous moves while performing on stage was the duck walk, which Angus introduced into his performances. While speaking on The Rock Show with Johnnie Walker, Angus stated, "Chuck Berry was probably one of the great guitar people for rock and roll. Jimi combined blues, soul, hard rock, and jazz into his original and unmistakeable sound. In a interview with Guitar Magazine in 2021, Angus said "And when I first heard the song ‘Purple Haze,’ I was totally enthralled. ‘How’s he doing that?’ I was just so impressed with it. When along came Hendrix, you kind of went, ‘Woah! They burst out onto the scene at a very young age, releasing their debut album at the ages of around 16-17. Kevin was introduced to their debut album from his brothers when he was discovering rock and roll for the first time. Kevin stated in a interview with The Guardian, "Grunge gave me a sense of identity and I remember really associating with Silverchair, who were these chilled-out Australian teenagers. The fact that they were teenagers was a big deal for me. However, Cream's Disraeli Gears album was the most inspirational to Kevin for its fuzzy and psychedelic sound. He spoke to The Guardian in an interview saying, "I listened to the Doors, Colour Haze, Black Sabbath and stuff like that, but the album that really got me into it was Disraeli Gears. I loved that rumbling, fuzzed-out sound. I picked it up in a record store one day and it just blew my mind,”. In a interview with NME, Kevin said, “Mark’s a big reason why I had the confidence to do what I did with Currents. He showed me how pop music could have such a craft to it." Both Thomas and Guy-Manuel were big fans of Andy's from a young age and he was a big influence for Daft Punk to transform their image into the robot personas they continued for the majority of their careers. Thomas had an in depth interview with Whitehall explaining Andy's impact on the duo, he said "When we were teenagers, 12 or 13, it was Andy Warhol and Pop art, and where he stood between contemporary art and popular culture, mechanical production, mass media. Alongside The Beatles, The Beach Boys were pioneers for implementing experimental sounds into their albums, most notably Pet Sounds in 1966. Daft Punk's debut album Homework featured a song called Teachers, which was dedicated to all of both Thomas and Guy-Manuel's musical inspirations in which Brian Wilson got a special acknowledgement. Also, on the album sleeve of Homework, Daft Punk included a quote from Brian Wilson that read, "I wanted to write joyful music that made other people feel good. Music that helps and heals, because I believe that music is God's voice." Giorgio Moroder angusldavidson https://padlet.com/angusldavidson/v0s7m5mfnqqla6xj/wish/2626621430 Dubbed "The Father of Disco", Giorgio Moroder is a producer/ composer that has been credited as a pioneer for EDM and disco music. Giorgio influenced many sub-genres from his projects such as House and Acid House, which these genres were implemented into Daft Punk's debut EP Homework. Daft Punk were so heavily influenced by Giorgio that they collaborated with him on Daft Punk's Random Access Memories for their song Giorgio by Moroder. On this song, Giorgio does a documentary-like talk over about his early life as a musician and how he utilised the Moog One to create a futuristic sound, "I didn't have any idea what to do but I knew I needed a click so we put a click on the 24-track which then was synced to the Moog Mdoular. I knew that could be a sound of the future but I didn't realise how much the impact would be."
