In this group were some of the men who were responsible for the genocide. They began to attack the Tutsi population in DR Congo, which is what began the ethnic cleansing in the region.

The UN has a peacekeeping mission that is supposed to protect people, and aid reconstruction. Even still, in 2009, a report stated that the UN had done little to nothing to help stop the violence. There was a rape of over 150 women/children in 2010, and the UN did nothing to stop it, although they claimed that they did not hear about it until after it happened.

This genocide is closely related to the one that happened in Rwanda in 1994. Just like in that situation the UN, and mostly all countries flee the country and don't involve themselves.
