Additionally, I'd use ask the child a few questions about their learning style. For example, I like to ask my students if they're comfortable typing or writing. I have some students who better express themselves when they're typing. I would explain how the classroom or lesson may be set up for that student by letting the parent know that a device may be provided. 
I would explain that differentiated instruction gears toward the abilities of children and helps them reach goals with methods that are more suitable for the child.
