My friend Hazim shared his research about "Detection of Deforestation and Forest Fragmentation of Ulu Muda"

He interested in comparing six consecutive year of SPOT satellite image of illegal activity that happened at Ulu Muda Forest

His methodology is specific on NDVI and Claasification method in order to detect what has been happened in six year at Ulu Muda forest.

Hazim faced a problem what is the best method for his study either NDVI or Classification, by the way I suggest him to consult his SV about what is the best methodology that suit his expertise as a Remote Sensing student.

SHAHRIZAD
Shahrizad want to study about flood hazard at Kangar as a study area. He want to produce a flood hazard mapping by using LiDAR data that enhanced with ArcGIS software to produce the output.

The main problem Shahrizad faced is his limitation of hardware where the LiDAR data need a powerful work station to process the point cloud. Besides that, the LiDAR data itself also difficult to be retrieved.

By the way, I have seen he has a clear objective but have a limitation in hardware and also the raw data.

Aiman want to develop android application for coordinate transformation in Peninsular Malaysia for smartphone users.

To achieve his aim, Aiman have stated three objectives. First, develop android application for coordinate coordinate transformation in Peninsular Malaysia. Second, to develop the android application, he were used the software Android Studio. Lastly, compare the result for coordinate transformation from his android application with any existing computer software for coordinate transformation.

For the problem statement, Aiman has stated that there are no android application for coordinate transformation for Peninsular Malaysia exist in Playstore. That why he want to produce for it.

Aiman were stated his expected outcome was the Android Packages Kit (APK) file of coordinate transformation. Besides, it will be publish at the Playstore.

Moreover, he was faced a problem with his supervisor. Aiman's supervisor was quiet busy person because he has many commitment and it drag to the late to give feedback to the supervisee.

As his friend, I suggest him to follow schedule from Dissertation 1's subject because he is smart student and well time management. Besides, he also can discuss with his co-supervisor to regarding the android application development because his research more with android environment.

Thanks to Mdm Nurhafiza, I got a chance to sharing my proposed final year project with Badrul. So do him. I got a chance to learn something from him and his final year project too. From my understanding, Badrul want to study and predict the capacity the volume of solid waste management in new dumping area at Perlis. Since he claimed that the company, Environment Idaman, which managed the solid waste covering in Perlis, experiencing problems in determining the volume of daily solid waste collected. That's why he proposed the solution to this problem. He want to used UAV method to monitor solid waste at dumping area. Then, he will calculate and estimate the volume of solid waste every month with GIS technique where i found it is the most interesting part. In the last part, he trying to predict the time remaining for solid waste to reach its voulume limit. This is good because the company can do a proper management in this new dumping area.
Meanwhile, he didnt say much about his SV. But he trying his best for completing the task given by his SV. Its clearly that he is struggling right now, as me. Since the project is out of my league, I cant suggest anything to him. I feel sorry too. But if he want my help in collecting data, I will help with all my might. I wish we can do better for our next VIVA in defending our proposal. All the best, Badrul.

Aina wants to do a research on alliance of urbanization to temperature in penang island. There are three images of penang island used to analyze the effect of urban on temperature. Her objectives are to classify the images in order to identify the urban area, detect the temperature on the urban and identify the relationship. Her problem statements are penang island is facing the increase of developments and the temperature is rising. Problem faced by her is the images that she plan to use is landsat 7 but there are too many noise error which is stripping. Landsat 8 also cannot be used since the starting years of the images produced are 2013, but as stated before, she want to investigate the research on three images which have 5 years interval. So i suggest her to use modis data since it provide better analysis for the temperature detection. The expected outcome for her research is producing maps of three images showing temperature on the urban either rising or vice versa.

My friend, fairuz want to carry out a research to implement automation oil palm tree counting in sarawak. The objectives are to evaluate existing oil palm counting technique, compare manual and automation technique and to improve existing automation method. The problem statements are the manual method are time consuming and high cost. Problem faced by her is she do not know what method to be used. I suggest her to search and read more journal. To map the existing house (exposed on the ground) by using UAV system and ground survey method. the problem faced by najwa is she need to take to learn the new software. before that, she also have difficulty to fly the UAV to collect the data. My friends research is about interactive map of flood evacuation centre in Perlis using GIS approach. The aim of her studies is to provide a web based application that display an interactive map of safest flood evacuation shelters in Perlis. First objectives is to identify and classify flood prone area in Perlis by using GIS application to integrate flood pattern from previous flood cases in Perlis. Second, to locate the safest flood evacuation centre and lastly to provide a web based application which interactively display map of Perlis with safest evacuation centre. Problem faces during her research is difficult to get the data and don’t know how to determine the analysis method. My suggestion is she must consult more with GIS lecturer about this research.

Zariff project occur changes of title, so the title is still in discussion. The aim of zariff project is to know which hydrographic positioning is more accurate. First objective is to know the accuracy level of hydrographic positioning and second to compare dgps and another type of positioning. Problem faces during her research is the accuracy is important in hydrographic positioning because the small difference in calculations can lead to increasing time n costing and the difference of calculation and wrong usage of positioning system can lead to kilometers of mistakes. This topic is chosen because there is no distance inspection that has been done using drone in Malaysia. Fakihin Auni’s Project

Auni’s project is entitled analysis of DEM accuracy assessment from UAV imagery and TanDEM. Her research is done by collecting aerial photo around UITM Perlis. The aim of her project is to analyze the accuracy of DEM from UAV and TanDEM-X imagery. Software used for her project is Agisoft Photoscan and ArcGIS. The problem faced during conducting her research is about weather condition that unable her doing her job on data acquisition.

Ain Uzzairah’s Project

Ain’s project is basically on photogrammetry field which is using UAV. The research done is entitled Different Distance for Detecting Crack on concrete building using UAV. She is using UAV to capture the imagery in order to analyze the best distance for crack width detection. the objectives are:
1. To carry out survey for crack detection
2. To study relationship of distance affected the size of detectable crack with drone
3. To examine the optimum distance for crack measurement
The research is conducted because there is no such research have been done in Malaysia. The method use are edge detection and segmentation for wide crack and thin crack respectively. The problem faced during her research is the timing on flying the drone.

Nizam project titles is a comparison of two classification procedures for deforestation. The aim for his project is to determine which of the best classification technique to observe the forest condition. There are three objectives of Nizam’s project in order to achieve the aim. The first objective is to perform the pixel based and object based classification for the Ulu Yam area for forest landscape. The second objective is to perform accuracy assessments on the different classifications to determine the best approach and to quantify the expected level of accuracy. The third objective is to compare the two classification methods and assess the observed changes in forest. The problem statement for Nizam project is there are found that the pixel based method are lack efficiency when dealing with the change detection problem. The per-pixel based approach will in such case find difficulty in classifying the object correctly.
