Our planet is covered with water 97.5% of which we can't use. Also, around 68% of the water that is freshwater is frozen in the ice, and a little more than 30% is stuck, deep in the ground. This means that out of all of the existing freshwater, there is only about 0.3% of it that is accessible. And note that only around 2.5% of the earth's water is even drinkable, fresh water. This show us that we can drink only 0.007% of the water here on Earth. Clean and freshwater has a lower percentage then even that, because we pollute the water, making it an even more of a limited source to feed the 7.4 billion people on the Earth. Conserving means there is more to go around with, and that is what we need to do.

This exposed numerous threats to sea life, because of all of the oil that was merging with the water, polluting a lot of water. This harmed so much sea life and this included penguins.

We use anywhere from 30-200 gallons of water every single day per person. There is around 65,200,000,000,000,000 gallons of "easily accessible" freshwater. But, plenty of that water is polluted. So, lets say that around half of the water is polluted. Now, there is around 32,600,000,000,000,000 gallons of water that is likely clean enough to drink. If you think about it, even if all of the 7.4 billion people only needed to use 50 gallons of water each day, every single day, we would use around 370,000,000,000 gallons of water. And, even though that number is dwarfed by 3.26*10(16), think about a year. What about in an average human lifespan, around 80 years? Not to mention, each year, we dump massive amounts of polluting stuff in the water. Not to mention the human use of water, what about the machine's part? How about giving your pets water, or the other animals on the farms? Don't they need water? If you think about it, we use massive amounts of water. This is why we need to preserve water.

People do tons of things to pollute the water. Some of it we may not even realize. All of Minnesota every winter 730 million pounds of salt gets dumped on the roads. But though that may be helpful for the roads might not mean that it is not helpful to the nearby rivers and streams. When the snow melts it transverses the salt to the streams and rivers. One teaspoon of road salt can pollute 5 gallons of water.

How does the waste and pollution of water affect sea life?

The waste of water means that we use the water. Whenever we use the water, showering, washing our hands, drinking and using the bathroom, we use an amount of water that is a lot more than what the majority of us think. Adding all of this up, we use over 80 gallons of water each day per person. Now, this can affect the sea life because however much water we use, we are "adding" something into the water. If we wash our hands, we are likely adding soap into the water, just like if we were to shower or bathe. The only time when we use water yet not "add" anything to it is when we put water on the cooking pan and evaporates. And sometimes, all of this leads right into the ocean. The sewage may be okay, as it serves as a fertilizer, but almost anything else would have a negative affect on the water, and we really do put every drop of water that we use (except for the evaporating water on a frying pan part- that water, or water vapor, just gets sucked into the air vent above your stove) gets put into the ocean/sea. Things like soap can intoxicate the water with the poisons inside of it, and it can end up building up inside of a fish gill, and then other humans could eat it and get poisoned. Then, there is the part where companies dump massive amounts of trash into the oceans, or humans putting garbage into their toilets and flush it. That gets into the oceans as well, and things like plastic bags and sharp, broken pieces of glass
