         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><em>Speech &amp; Language Pathologist - </em></strong>Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children and adults. SLPs work in many different research, education, and health care settings with varying roles, levels of responsibility, and client populations. Because of the high demand for speech-language pathology services, part-time, full-time, and "as needed" basis opportunities may be available depending on location, desired facility, employment flexibility, and other factors. In many settings, SLPs often work as part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team, which may include teachers, physicians, audiologists, psychologists, social workers, physical and occupational therapists, and rehabilitation counselors.<br><br><strong><em>Physical Therapist -</em></strong> Physical therapists (PTs) are movement experts who optimize quality of life through prescribed exercise, hands-on care, and patient education. Physical therapists teach patients how to prevent or manage their condition so that they will achieve long-term health benefits. PTs examine each individual and develop a plan, using treatment techniques to promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability. In addition, PTs work with individuals to prevent the loss of mobility before it occurs by developing fitness- and wellness-oriented programs for healthier and more active lifestyles.<br><br></div><div><strong><em>Occupational Therapist -</em></strong> Occupational Therapists (OTs) are health care professionals who utilize evidence-based practice, research, scientific evidence, and a holistic perspective to promote independence, meaningful occupations, and patients' functional ability to fulfill their daily routines and roles. OTs ensure their patient-oriented interventions are effective. They have background training on the psychological, physical, emotional, and social makeup. OTs also have immense training in treating the whole body with the incorporation of neurological principles, anatomical or physiological concepts, and psychological perspectives. They support individuals across their lifespan to fulfill meaningful activities, known as occupations, individually by using therapeutic interventions. <br><br><strong><em>Music/Dance/Art Therapist -</em></strong> Music therapy uses music to promote healing and enhance quality of life. It's a complementary therapy that is used along with other cancer treatments to help patients cope mentally and physically with their diagnosis. Music therapy may involve listening to music, creating music, singing, and discussing music, in addition to guided imagery with music. Dance therapy uses movement to improve mental and physical well-being. It's a recognized form of complementary therapy used in hospitals and comprehensive clinical cancer centers. Creating art, viewing it, and talking about it provides a way for people to cope with emotional conflicts and increase self-awareness. It also allows them to express unspoken and often unconscious concerns about their illness. The art therapist uses pictures, art supplies, and visual symbols, as well as an understanding of behavior to help patients address their own personal concerns and conflicts. <br><br><strong><em>Audiologist - </em></strong>A health care professional who is trained to evaluate hearing loss and related disorders, including balance (vestibular) disorders and tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and to rehabilitate individuals with hearing loss and related disorders. An audiologist uses a variety of tests and procedures to assess hearing and balance function and to fit and dispense hearing aids and other assistive devices for hearing. Audiologists are health care professionals who use technology, creative problem solving, and social skills to identify and treat auditory disorders. Audiologists help people with these disorders better communicate and connect with the world around them.</div><div><br><strong><em>Early Intervention Specialist -</em></strong> Early intervention specialists use engaging exercises and games to support young children who are lacking critical skills development for their age. They’re responsible for identifying and serving youth who are exhibiting deficiencies in key areas of learning. Early interventionists play a pivotal role in connecting children and their families with other social service providers. Early intervention specialists will carefully evaluate the child, create a treatment plan, suggest learning activities, establish development goals, and monitor progress. Most will also direct parents to speech pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals for well-rounded intervention.
