Not everyone will be good able to go but Those who stay with slowly gain resilient to their surroundings natural selection will kick in. Even with technology not as big and amazing as wall-e there are things that are close or can be in the far future. Just like a lot of end of the world movies most how get chosen are highly rich or they themselves are highly seen as important even both. With the way things are going now and if we keep this up the unpredictable can happen.

On Tiktok and Instagram, I have seen clips of people playing with these cute robot toys that are designed to be a pet. It can play, entertain, and you are able to command it to do anything. Although animals are cute and can be a great companion, they are mortal and does require a lot of care. Currently animal DNA and tissues are used in the medical industry, we have been shifting the genetics of plants and food for decades, and even being on our phones has begun to change the way we interact with each other and thus relational gestures (less eye contact) as well as physiological changes (head down contributing to cervical spine forward curving). For my project I'm going to focus on the "creatures" of the future, when the line between species is a little blurry, let alone race and even gender. Multi-billionaires may just be the death of our world, if nothing changes that is. 
I want my project to capture 2 futures, one being a corporate hell hole reminiscent of 1984, bill boards, factories, a monopoly towering over society, embellished in grandiose displays of wealth. And the second future... displayed from a more personable perspective, where socialism wins, and multibillionaires are no more; money is put to good use to support small business, education, science, art, a healthy planet. Due to population rates increasing but a rise in crime and casualty deaths both from natural disasters like more frequent earthquakes, hurricanes, etc. Humans feared the end of their species because the planet was slowly dying, so a project was put in place to rehabilitate half the population into space. 

In short earth becomes more cyberpunk like Bladerunner as society isn’t able to keep up the cities and environment clean so it’s very grimy and dim. Due to unknown forces the Sun’s energy is decreasing at a faster rate which means the days become less sunny and earth becomes known as the city of lights as it mimics daylight

Space and earth are at war as many want to abandon earth entirely since those living in space say they are more advanced and live in a much cleaner and beautiful place. Space blames people on earth for not taking care of their earth and earth blames those on space for not helping after they left.

I want to focus on a dark, maybe ominous cityscape on an unfamiliar planet. The earth was made uninhabitable due to human negligence, so humans decided to move onto a different planet. I want to take this approach but gear it towards horror and something that makes my skin crawl. In the future demons roam the Earth. No one knows why but they decimate everywhere including the cities. Humans that are left on Earth are in hiding from these demons. Those who were accepted on the flying city are safe but the people who are chosen have to be good looking, wealthy, and be part of the "chosen". Those who are living in the city are arrogant and don't care for the lives of the humans down below on Earth. The planet may not be suitable in any sense, so we would have to leave.
