I like this. This would mean that we need to account for who benefits or who pays for each policy or program we promote. Normally, markets and economic solutions to problems only look at aggregate benefits. In contrast, we would need to ensure we are able to compensate groups who may lose as the result of a policy-making sure they are no worse off (and hopefully better off) than in the status quo scenario.

Reference to principle 1. Historic resource usage. In Texas big farmers and agricultural interests I think we need to define what traditional historic resource is that is and whether or not.

Principles feel like a foundation. It will never be fully baked. As we continue inthis perpetual journey of learning we can continue revising.
After we agree that this is a solid foundation we can look at our major work streams and are they aligned to the principles and what do we need to modify. How do these apply to the workstream we have going on.

Problem: How EDF defines environmental [problems. " Environmental decisions are made based on economic dynamics. " But they are also made based on power dynamics. That is especially true in water and EJ issues. People and nature need to define problems in a way that we recognize that all people and nature, not just economics and nature.

Lead service replacement board for Denver water and it is very far from what we do and I feel I am taking the seat because it is not my area of expertise. It is water and justice but is this a productive use of my time. I am curious how we strategize forward and cn we get more resources and activities to that and how do we navigate in a water

Growing interest and appetite to have a more measurable impact with DACs that we come into contact with.

This is not some add one we are being much more intentional in the outcomes and partners we work with.

It feels like our program's focus is a lot on water quantity but the biggest space around water is access to clean water and water quality. There needs to be both but that is just something we struggle. What is our role there, how d we message what our role is.

We are trying to be good allies to our partner organizations. We haven't been able to figure out our role on the ground and there is a lot more on the TAP work.

It seems like in addition to the crosswalk, moving forward what are the opportunities and filling some of those gaps. Future looking.

These principles are amazing and we need to do more but what does that look like and what resources do we have to make some actions happen?

Dan and Vanessa will go to West Texas to meet with stakeholders on spring flow protection near Fort Davis. The pools around there. Convening on the different science and data needs there is no policy in place to protect the springs and there is an overwhelmingly Hispanic population that doesn't engaged and is fearful of engaging. and then you have the landowners who are white and own property around the system. We are going in there with little on the ground understanding. We have talked to scientists and academics but we haven't talked to people who live there.

I don't see that we immediately change the scope we are working on ( water supply system) upstream of the pumps. I don;t envision us changing that immediately

Water quality, part of our strength is staying focused on a specific realm of work. It is very easy to see an issue that is adjacent and be part of that but we have to be careful to not expand into topics of what our expertise is. We should consider those but through the perspective of how to stay focused.

Principle 3 resonates with me, in economics you have this opportunity as principle water is not allocated by economics. Being an ally on who is getting access or not getting access there are opportunities of equity in the line of work you are doing.
