         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Philanthropist    </div><div><strong>Philanthropy: “What I know for sure is what you give comes back to you”</strong></div><div>“The struggle of my life created empathy”</div><div>“My idea of heaven is having baked potato and someone to share with it”</div><div>While the assumption exists that success for Oprah equates to wealth and fame, her autobiography highlights that in fact personal growth, empowerment and philanthropy are the main driving forces in her life. Oprah is driven by a desire to understand herself completely and live her life to the fullest and to make this a priority and a reality for as many other people as possible which is aligned with Maslow’s human needs of motivation theory.</div><div>Oprah’s mission on the increase of the well-being of humankind. Her influence in this domain has been dubbed The Oprah Effect, referring to her jois de vivre spreading to her all her viewers.  </div><div>Philanthropists care about people and they actively look for ways to help their fellow human mates, it’s unarguable that philanthropists belong to the self-actualized level in Maslow’s 5-level pyramid, while Oprah (and other philanthropist) could reach also the transcendence level in Maslow’s 8 level model.  It’s easy to see how her basic needs, physiological and safety needs were lacking in her childhood, although in a later stage, when she already fulfilled those basic levels, she was actively seeking the possibility to help others to fulfil their own needs.
