The proteins and toxins produced by the plant could cause a severe allergic reaction, resulting in death or permanent damage. This is important because it could affect the human population, and result in fatalities.

Weed Resistance: The GMOs in crops could potentially spread to other plants surrounding the GMOs. This could result in unwanted effects, and it can also cause weeds to become super-resistant. If this happens, then farmers will have to deal with more problems and crops could be wiped out. This could cause a shortage of crop, which is not good.

These modifications in our food supply aren't natural and can therefore cause potential allergic reactions or health concerns. Since we would be distributing the crops to a large number of people, there is a greater risk for human fatalities.
Diffusion- The genes can spread via plant viruses and plasmids to other non-genetically modified crops and begin to breed. This is especially risky if it spreads to weeds because it would be difficult to eradicate them.

I think that ethical concerns would mostly lie in tampering with human DNA. We have learned how to rearrange the DNA in plants, and we are getting close to doing the same with humans. Tampering with this might cause unforeseen health problems that ruin the lives of those affected.
Another ethical aspect that has already presented itself is the antibiotics with animals. This may cause them to grow at a faster rate than expected, and cause them to have trouble moving freely. This is an inhumane way to raise food animals.

Cross contamination is the process of bacteria or other microorganisms being unintentionally transferred from one substance to another causing harm to that substance. Allergic reactions is also a major concern when it comes to biotechnology. If a strand of DNA was added to a crop, we no longer know what the crop is made of. This could have a potential threat to people who are allergic to some ingredients.

I think that 2 of the most important ethical concerns are that of the genetic engineering happening where it does not need to happen, nothing, plant nor animal, should have to go through something like that if it does not need to. Another concern is the religious aspect of food, as some religions can only eat specific things. We want to make things more Kosher not less.

As someone who wants to major in Biotechnology, I find that the two biggest ethical problems are that a lot of people think crops shouldn't be genetically modified because that research will be applied to other organisms and lead to the genetic modifying of everything such as the CRISPR trials. Another reason is people are less likely to eat a food if they know it is genetically modified. The consumers don't know what is going into their food and marketing has kept them away from the positive side of GMO's.

I believe the two most important ethical concerns are human allergies and cross contamination. A large amount of people may have allergies, and eat something they might not know has been altered. cross contamination could hurt other crops and the surrounding environment.
