We, the United States, are a Federal System. Another system is the Unitary System. It works when one central government controls weaker states. Power is not shared between states, counties, or provinces. The Confederate System works when weak or loose organization of states agree to follow a powerful central government. Nations can choose to follow or not follow the lead of the weak central government.

The unitary system is a sovereign state governed as a single entity. The federal system is a system of government in which power is divided between a central authority and constituent political units. The confederate system sits at the other extreme in terms of centralization. A confederacy is a loose relationship among a number of smaller political units. The vast majority of political power rests with the local governments;the central federal government has very little power. In conclusion, that is the three systems of government.
