While taking this Spanish 1 course, I have found many differences between the Spanish language and the English language. In English if you ask, "Where is Ricardo's pencil?", in Spanish it will say, "Dónde está el lápiz de Ricardo". If you translated this to English by the order of the words it would actually say "Where is the pencil of Ricardo." In Spanish, they base things off of who has possession. Another thing that is different is in Spanish, every object is categorized by a gender. For example, if a man is trying to say "the doctor", he would say "el medico". If a woman was trying to say "the doctor", she would say "la medica". When it is categorized by a male, it would say el, and an "o" would be added to teh end of a word and if it is categorized by a female, it would say la and add an "a". If i continue to study the Spanish language, I hope to learn more about other things you can find in a community like libraries, pharmacies, and etc. This is my first online class and i really enjoyed it. It was different than what i thought it would be but after i started the class, i enjoyed it. I really like attending the live classes because it was a cool way to interact with our teachers. The only thing i did not like about live classes is sometimes it would kick us out or sometimes the sound would mess up and i couldn't hear. I also liked how on the quizzes you could match a picture with the word because i like to learn visually. I did not really like the videos when taking notes because sometimes they would go silent and i couldn't figure out what the word meant. I think what helped me the most was taking very detailed notes and because I am a visual learner, highlighting specific details also helped. I also think what helped me was the flashcards provided for each lesson of the vocabulary. To improve my Spanish in the future I think starting a Spanish groupchat where you only speak Spanish would be cool because it would help you carry on a conversation. What i liked about my instructor was he would always answer my questions if i had any. he was also very lenient with time on assignments if i was having computer problems or during the bad weather conditions.
