Year after year, pilgrims from the Salta Puna

come together to walk from the mountains to the feet of the Lord and the Virgin of the Miracle in Salta.

Men and women from Tolar Grande, Olacapato, Mina Patitos, Salar Pocitos walk around 400 km, exposed to adverse weather conditions and temperatures of -14 degrees below zero, at more than 4.500 meters above sea level.

Assisted along the way by great logistics; vans, trucks and ambulances from the Municipality of Tolar Grande and mining companies.

These people are a true example of determination, total dedication to their faith, and simplicity. They walked gratefully, motivated by singing, praying, waving flags.

Some pilgrims wore thermal clothing and mining helmets, others simply wore traditional clothing such as blankets and gloves made of llama or sheep wool.

However, everyone transmitted a joyful and contagious energy, making this pilgrimage a great experience, with interesting reflections.

The festival Lord and Virgin of Milagro is a demostration of faith of the people of Salta, this is a tradictional Catholic religion. Every september, miles people of salta meet around of catedral. Since 6 to 15 of september there is the novena and came to and end the last day. The 15 of september, the images come out of cathedral and the procession with de people of Salta around of Street. Three images go down the streets: Virgen of tears, Maria del Milagro and Lord of Milagro. All the images have a bouquet of Carnation which are decorated by parishioners. The last procession, the last 15 of september, around of 650 thousand people participate. Every year the procession to the Monument 20 de febrero where miles of people celebrate covenant of Fidelity with de lord and Virgin of Milagro. Then, return to cathedral where bell ringing performance and rain of petals. The people pray and blessed for a new miracle.

The 50th edition of La Serenata a Cafayate was on February 22, 23 and 24 in 2024. It is a traditional folcklore festival on the grounds of Bodega Encantada with important artists.

For three nights La Bodega Encantada became the meeting point for thousands of people both from Salta and the other countries. You could enjoy a true cultural display where singers and poets loudly celebrated their joy alongside the legendary elves of folklore. The Payo Solá stage received renowned and experienced artists as well as new revelations from the world of music.

Every year, Cafayate receives numerous local artists with the aim of commemorating and defending the culture and music of northwest Argentina. Among the genres of music heard at the event are folklore, national rock, cumbia, coplas and chacarera.
