When the Soviets set up the Berlin Blockade preventing the east from going to the west of Berlin, people from the east couldn't receive food from the west so the US sent planes to drop food off on the east side in order to feed people and stop the soviets plans of spreading communism.

Was created to support European countries financially to avoid ever relying on USSR and before they could do so.

An alliance formed by North America and Western European nations to form a security pact against the soviets and other communistic countries and promote peace and democracy.

War starts June 1950

After Korea was liberated from the Japanese the US and the USSR agreed to divide Korea between the north and south. The north was backed by the communistic USSR and the south was backed by the non-communistic US. After 5 years Kim Il Sung the leader of the communistic north side invaded the south in order to unify both sides. So the Korean War started and this was a proxy war where both sides were indirectly helped by their allied countries. But later when North Korean forces swept across almost all of South Korea the US led a counter offensive against them. After years of both sides fighting they came to a ceasefire.

The Sputnik was the first artificial Earth satellite ever launched. It was launched by the Soviets and this sent chills down the spines of Americans and this started a space war between the USSR and the US to see who could get a man on the moon first.

In May of 1960 Soviets promised to defend Cuba with soviet arms and missiles. The US saw this and got worried as they knew Cuba was so close to the US and they could launch missiles into the eastern part of the US within minutes. This grew tension between the US and USSR which could start WW3 but luckily Kennedy and Khrushchev came to an agreement where the US would never invade Cuba and Russia would promise to withdraw it's nuclear armed missiles, also Kennedy promised to withdraw it's nuclear missiles from Turkey which was close to Russia.

During the Space wars President Kennedy wanted the US to be the first ones to land a man on the moon and so Apollo 11 was a decade long project created in order for national security and cold war dominance.

A spokesman for East Berlin's Communist Party announced a change to Berlin as with relations to the west. He announced that the people were free to cross the borders and travel wherever they wanted within the city. Soon people began to gather at the walls to chip chunks down with hammers and picks while drinking and celebrating they became known as "mauerspechte" or "wall woodpeckers". Soon bulldozers and cranes pulled down sections of the wall till the wall was gone and Berlin was reunited for the first time since 1945. The reunification was made official on October 3, 1990 almost one year after the Berlin wall fell.
