Hello everyone! My name is Sophia.

I have two main learning styles (Visual and Auditory) and I am a social/linguistic learner. Just like some learners, I need all of these learning styles to fully grasp the subject at hand.

Social/Linguistic Learning

I learn best when I use social interaction as a basis for learning. I can learn especially when my peers and I communicate perspectives on the topic so that I get a broad gist of what the topic is about. That is why I enjoy group study sessions.

Visual Learning

I effectively learn when I use graphics such as visual models to understand a topic ("8 types of learning styles," 2022, par. 10) Doing so helps me visualize what I want to learn in my brain because envisioning it with the help of photographic memory helps me recall it more easily. An example is this picture showing different types of orchids. I can determine the differences of each flower based on their colors and shapes, despite having 5 petals in each bud. This is because visually, I can recongize patterns. I can differentiate the sakura flower because it is pinker than the Yilan, which is white.

Auditory Learning

This style is also helpful to me because talking helps me understand a topic through emphasis, where I don't only think about the topic in my head, but I execute this learning from hearing and speaking about it as well. ("8 types of learning styles," 2022, par. 12) A fun strategy I use because I struggle with memorization is using tunes as I learn.

When I remember the songs I listen to while studying, I manage to remember concepts I associate with them because learning and listening are simultaneously active at the same time.

An example is this video, where the speaker states the name of each flower while showing visuals of said flower. Bringing both visual and auditory styles in one helps me understand through both my eyes and ears, and executing this through repetition on my own time by saying these names out loud.
