(E-Safety Support, 2013)

Digital literacy is important in education today, because it links students to information outside of the classic textbook. The 21st century introduced the digital age to the world where it is necessary for people to be computer literate. Utilizing digital literacy in the classroom teaches students how to find valuable information, as well as, evaluate what information is important and what is not. Digital literacy in the classroom allows the student to become engaged in their own learning, and also makes learning more fun. The benefits of digital literacy extend far beyond the educational field, but follows students into adulthood when it is time to work in the professional field.

The internet is no different when it comes to practicing safety.  It is important that we no how to search the internet to find the information that we are looking for.
