For the first seven years of my life, I lived in the South side of Chicago. Living there exposed me to a lot of people who lived more in poverty than prosperity. I made friends with people I went to school with and when I left, I went to school in Darien and was surrounded in a more prosperous environment. I felt like the odd kid who didn't fit in due to some bullying of my peers. I also felt like I didn't fit in due to my lower financial status, I felt like I was in an abnormal world. I still hung out with my friends back in Chicago, and they always talked about how awful their school was. After each time they complained, I always felt more grateful to go to a more prosperous school and neighborhood. Beliefs and values are made through family, schools, peers, media, and religion. My family, specifically my mother and my older brother are the biggest influences on most of my beliefs and values. They impact my beliefs and values through being taught these beliefs and values ever since I was little. My school has impacted my beliefs and values through teaching us a more formal way to learn and think of beliefs and values but similar to my family, I was taught these beliefs and values while I was growing up. My peers and Media have similarly impacted my beliefs and values, both my peers and media encourage more negative than positive beliefs and values. This being that other peers and Media form this fake picture of something that's impossible for everyone to have whether it's physically or mentally and unfortunately peers around school encourage people to become this fake picture of someone whether they notice it or not. Religion doesn't personally impact me because I'm not religious,  but I know it affects many others including my peers and other family members. I use technology everyday whether it's playing music on my walk to school, doing school work, or communicating with others. On my phone, I mostly communicate with others and entertain myself with it by going on social media. Social Media is known to be one of the worst things to be created to many people because of the downsides of it. Social Media has a very heavy negative side to it similar to what I mentioned in my Belief and Ideology topic, people expect this physically and mentally perfect person out of someone whether if it's perfect grades or your eye color and it makes lots of teenagers insecure about themselves. I feel that this downfall really started through quarantine, lots of teenagers saw these beautiful people who had good grades throughout online learning and they started to become insecure about themselves. Personally I was more worried about online learning to worry about my physical being and looks. The big people who have power and authority over me are anyone who works directly with the government, law enforcement, the President of the United States, my teachers, and my mother. Like I said before, I don't hold much power and authority, I believe the most power I have is over younger kids. It's also hard to gain power as a teenager due to older people saying that I'm too young to do/have power. I believe the first step to have power as a teenager is to have the same characteristics of a leader. I believe these characteristics include confidence, good body language, good speaking, acting, and persuasive skills. The next step in gaining power is to change my mindset. This would change a question similar to "What am I going to suffer" but "What am I going to do when this setback comes".
