He tries to convince Chris that entering the Alaskan Bush with as little food and supplies he has is a stupid but chris doesn’t listen. He finally gets to his destination and discovers an abandoned bus in the middle of the forest that will serve as his home for the remaining two to three months of his life. Chris survives off the land successfully until the very end of his life, when he can't cross a raging river to go back to civilization, he goes back into the wild. It's estimated that Christopher McCandless died on August 18, 1992.
