After they move in, she notices a little door in the living room of her house, but it’s bricked and shut closed. In the middle of the night, she goes downstairs and the door is open, she goes on it and sees her house. Everything is the same, but more vibrant and colorful, even the furniture is the same. Until coraline sees her mom. Her mom has button eyes, which makes coraline very scared and anxious. She gets everything she wants there though, in that other world, with her “other mother” and “other father.” When she goes to sleep in the other world, she is there. But when she wakes up, she is in her normal world. She goes there again in the night and has an amazing time. But, one time during the day, her mom is out getting groceries, and the portal is open. She goes in, and goes to a show there. After it’s done, she sees her other parents. That night, she goes to sleep. But when she wakes up, she is still there. She gets scared, goes downstairs and tells her “other mother” to let her free. They have a huge fight and coraline has to escape without the other mother knowing. In the end, she gets back home and throws away the key to the door and locks it.

This summer, she had been so much more beautiful than all of the other summers when she had glasses and braces. This year, she had started to develop feelings for Jeremiah, while also liking a boy named Cameron. Belly doesn’t know what to do because she really likes Conrad, but she doesn’t know if he likes her back or not, and she knows that Jeremiah likes her, but she doesn’t know if she wants to wait for Conrad or not.
