Respond to one of the three options in any way you choose:
Option One:What have you learned, realized and/or understood further about cultural responsiveness?
Option Two: How will you apply your initial learning on cultural responsiveness?
Option Three: Where is your thinking now about what it means to be a culturally responsive educator compared to when you began this session?

THere are important cultural aspects that we are oblivious to or possibly turn a blind eye to, but knowing what goes on in a students life outside school will help you connect and possibly influence how the student learns. THey will become more invested in school if you are invested in them and their future. It is also important to have uncomfortable conversations because from them we grow as people. We have to challenge ideas in a way that promotes growth and acceptance.

I think it's important for us to look at how to incorporate more of the language and overall buzz words into our student vocabulary. As we move forward with the year, I want to focus on how to incorporate more adaptive learning approaches...

I think it is essential that we (1) look at how our current texts can explore and reflect cultural responsiveness and (2) see what texts we have to change in order to fully reflect our students' differences. I think it the conversations are extremely uncomfortable and difficult to have, particularly as a primarily white teaching staff, but I think that are so important. All students need to feel supported and represented and there are various ways we can do this, although it will be challenging.
