We could learn more about the Gay Rights movement since it's made leaps and bounds since it officially began. We could also look more into on how it was received by other movements, because it's still considered taboo in many modern movements.

Today especially, science and society are more interconnected than ever. Many people have been advocates for those affected by cancer, cystic fibrosis, HIV, Zika, to name a few, but is there a more systemic underlying pattern for research funding (other than the severity and prevalence of the disease)? How do race, gender, sexuality (e.g. HIV funding and the gay rights movement), social status, and even geopolitical factors contribute to funding? In addition, do these factors contribute to a disparity of funding for some diseases? Most importantly, have we made progress since the late 20th century?
