George kills Lennie in the end because there's no way he can get out of situation. He had to take responsibility so he has no guilt. He doesn't Lennie to think that people were mad at him. He wants to make Lennie happy before his last moments. He recites their shared dream to own land and Lennie tending the rabbits. He's scared that when he outlives his purpose he'll be kicked out of the ranch. Right now, the only reason he's being kept there is because the boss is trying to repay his accident. Candy is facing ageism and he has a disability. I think that Candy wants to keep his dog alive because he's in the same situation as the mutt. He's outlived his purpose and is of no use anymore, but if he were to kill him it would be like getting kicked out of the ranch for him.

He was excited because he had one chance to get out of that situation and that would be with George and Lennie. He wouldn't have to be anxious of his time being limited anymore. Curley wants to fight with tall guys to prove just how strong he is. Because Lennie is one big guy, he immediately catches Curley's attention. Curley provokes him, but Lennie doesn't do anything since he doesn't want to fight. At one point, Curley approaches Lennie and they start fighting. Of course Curley threw the first punch.

His actions really prove his pettiness because he knows that by fighting with big guys it'll advantage him. If the smaller guy manages to him (that's him), people will be impressed at his strength and he'll look stronger. Curley's wife is forced to stay in Curley's house because he doesn't want her seeing any other men. She still manages to sneak out and try to talk to other people. She says she does that because she's very lonely and she doesn't enjoy talking to Curley that much. She always says that he's not a  great guy. No one on the farm enjoys her presence and they all think she's jailbait. She's facing sexism. Also, now that she's married to Curley, she's more like his prized possession more than a person. 

Curley's wife had a dream to become an actress, but she never made it, so she married Curley instead. It was more of an obligation than a choice because she need a place to stay. That's revealed at the end of the story. We also see how Curley's wife treats Lennie like a baby and lets him touch her hair. That's discrimination, because she wouldn't let any other man do that, except Lennie who speaks and acts like a child. Crooks is the only black Character. He's facing racism as he's not allowed to stay with the other workers. He also has a disability which is his crooked back, hence the name. He's diminished especially because of his skin color, but also because of his disability. 

Crooks's dream was to go work on Lennie's, George's and Candy's land. He's a parallel of Curley's wife because he's isolated just like her. They're both facing discrimination and the rarely have any social interactions.
