         <description><![CDATA[<div>My name is Stephanie Parson, I was born and raised in Miami, FL, and live to be 17 years old. I currently am a dual enrollment student at SAS/MDC Kendall so I do half high school and half college classes. I joined the program last year and it's been a test of my abilities. I am currently employed at Chuck E. Cheese which stands to be one of the facts new acquaintances enjoy most. It's my first job and I've been working there for over a year. For most of my life, I've always been set on pursuing the medical field but it's actually recently that this changed. Instead, I would like to pursue aerospace engineering currently. I decided that I truly wasn't as interested in medicine as I was convincing myself. Space, however, was something I have always been fascinated by so I decided to go that route. What's most important to me is to be successful and enjoy life the best I can. When I near the end of my life I want to be able to say and honestly believe that I lived my life the best I could possibly do and have few regrets.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Week 3: C.E.R.</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>C.E.R. is the framework that can be used for scientific explanations. One way to use this method is to develop a conclusion to a scientific investigation.&nbsp; A conclusion can state a claim, evidence that supports it, and reasoning for how or why that evidence supports the claim. To find the evidence we must focus on the data collected in an investigation because that will serve as the evidence. You cannot have a claim without evidence that supports it. One example of using the C.E.R framework is writing a portion of the conclusion. It will help to organize the portion. The claim answers the original question. The evidence supports the claim. The reasoning shows how or why the evidence supports the claim. The framework can be used in daily life when trying to get a point across or trying to prove something. It will provide all the necessary steps you need to have a solid argument hard to debate.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Week 4: Species Selection - Beautiful Pawpaw (Deeringothamnus pulchellus)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Beautiful Pawpaw (Deeringothamnus pulchellus) is an endangered species in which this population is known to or is believed to occur in Florida. It's a rare species of flowering plant in the custard apple family known by the common names beautiful pawpaw, royal false pawpaw, and white squirrel banana. It is a federal listed endangered species. Low, deciduous shrub 8 - 12 inches tall, with 1 to several erect or arching stems from a taproot. Leaves alternate, leathery, oblong, 1 - 2.5 inches long, with veins visible on both upper and lower surfaces; leaf tip rounded or notched. Flowers fragrant, solitary on stalks arising in the angle between leaf and stem on new shoots of the season, blooming only after fire or disturbance; petals 6 - 10 per flower, 0.5 - 1 inch long, white, strap-shaped, curved backwards when fully opened; sepals 3, broadly triangular. Fruit 3 inches long, fleshy, green, resembling a lumpy bean pod, with dark brown seeds, about 0.5 inch long. It's habitat consist of open slash pine or longleaf pine flatwoods with wiregrass, saw palmetto, and dwarf live oak in the understory. The best survey season for this species is Spring; late March - April; will re-sprout and flower all year following fire.          <description><![CDATA[<div>I watched the second video titled "When is the pandemic over?" What caught my attention is that this video is about the 3 different approaches that governments could use when dealing with a pandemic. Especially the fact that it's "Delay and Vaccinate" is the most famous approach used when there is the "Coordinate and Crush" approach that is obviously much more practical and would do better for the human race when faced with a pandemic. But, this makes sense because world powers often are too greedy and petty to coexist and cooperate despite it being better for the human race as a whole. This video really put it into perspective that there are truly better approaches to trying to minimize a pandemic but they are unfortunately unrealistic because countries don't work all together as a team. I personally think the "Delay and Vaccinate" approach mentioned in the video works but not as well as it should for the world.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The beautiful pawpaw grows in poorly drained flatwoods in sandy soils, in stands dominated by slash pine (<em>Pinus elliotii</em> ) and saw palmetto (<em>Serenoa repens</em> ). The beautiful pawpaw requires periodic disturbance of its habitat, although this must not be so severe as to kill the perennating roots of the plant. The beautiful pawpaw is only known from northern Lee County (on Pine Island), southern Charlotte County, and Orange County, all in southwestern Florida. The species is adapted to periodic disturbance by wildfire or windstorms. Flowering tends to occur only after fire or mowing promotes new growth of the plant. The flowers are insect-pollinated, and the fruits are distributed by animals and gravity. Best Survey Season: Spring; late March - April; will re-sprout and flower all year following fire. Most stems are annual, dying back in winter, but some occasionally survive for 2 years.This is a Florida endemic that is known only from 2 small disjunct areas in Charlotte and Lee counties and Orange County.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Something that caught my attention was the fact that feedback is actually beneficial and what makes everything work. A Feedback Loop is a phenomenon of mutual causal interaction as described in the video. It's very interesting that the natural world is full of these mechanisms. It makes sense when put into perspective because on thing has an effect on something and then that will have another effect creating a loop.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The padlet I chose was Karla L's. I really found her background photo for the padlet very pretty so it's very pleasing to the eye. I like the setup of the information she has put on the padlet and the images she uses to make it look interestingly full of information. She chose bumblebees as her selected species and it was nice to learn more about them especially as they are so important and integral to our ecosystem. This species as important as they are, are easily harmed so I'm glad she spoke about them spreading more and more awareness. I loved the images she selected when discussing the species. They were vibrant beautiful pictures of flowers just like her background that are extremely pleasing to the eye. I also do like the viewpoints that Karla takes on the modules we have discussed in class that are on our padlets.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

I chose this species to spread awareness about the flower especially as they are endangered and actually reside somewhere very near to myself and I would believe many people in this class, located in southern Florida. This speices will be impacted by climate change as the increase in temperature caused by climate change can affect the amount of forest fires that may occur potentially eradicating the species from their habitat.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
