Henry " Box " Brown
1. Henry was born into slavery.
2. He is called " Box ' because to travel out of slavery he mailed himself in a box.
3. He got this idea from a friend who recently did it.
4. He mailed himself to the Phillidephia which was free state.
5. He inspired many others to do the same.

Bessie Coleman was the first ever African American woman to pilot an airplane. She struggled with 2 really hard to get through obstacles, 1. she was a woman in the 1920's, and 2. she was African American in the 1920's. She was the born 10th in her family of 15 with 13 siblings crazy!

I read about Harriet Tubman! I learned that Harriet Tubman took part in the Underground Railroad which was amazing. In fact, she was against slavery and wanted to free the slaves from South Carolina. Lastly, Harriet Tubman got some more African Americans to act as her spies to help her free slaves.

I read about George Washington Carver. I learned from reading this that he was the first black person to graduate from Iowa State University. He also found many ways to use peanuts but he did not make peanut butter. He died on January 5th 1943.

Booker T. Washington wanted to spread the knowledge he had to other African-Americans. Which majority of them didn't have access to education at the time. So he decided to create his own school which expanded over time until it became Tuskegee Institute what we know as now Tuskegee University.

1. Sojourner Truth was a black woman who fought for woman's rights. Even though she couldn't read or write, her speeches made people respect her including Abraham Lincoln.
2. Her name used to be Isabella Bomfree before she changed it to Sojourner Truth.
